feathers fell

a poem by Gwevera Nightingale

hovered over every breath, crouched and broken; neverdeath
underscored by Leach's lot, Love had smashed her broken pot
stomping harder, more she cried; Love themself had died to pride
back and back then back I went, farther still their fairest scent
presence felt, and touch shared through, their heart was brightest; Love was true

maybe sorrow seeped me sour while weakness wore them into glower
spies were soldiers as they fell, so twisting knots, so borne the spell
keeping things to toss away would teach each girl of what to say

Love feels different — Love sees through
Love was driving — Love was you
